How To: Incorporate House Plants as Decor
Want to step up your house plant game? Start here:
1. THE BOOKENDS ARE ALIVE
Not only will plants add a fresh and inviting look to your personal library, but they can provide structural value as well. Create an even more seamless look by using square or geometric containers.
2. SEEING DOUBLE
Place your plant in front of a mirror to get two plants for the price of one. You can also use this trick to make a small cluster of plants seem like a full on jungle.
3. TAKE ME HIGHER
Do you have an open space above kitchen cabinets or need to dress up the top of a bookcase? Plants will add a finishing touch to those spaces. If the areas are hard to access, stick to low maintenance plants that you won’t have to check on as often.
4. COMPLIMENT EXISTING FEATURES
Use two plants to frame a desk, window, TV, or any other focal point in the room to draw attention to that space. We don’t know what it is, but house plants just scream “look over here!”
5. HAVE THE PLANTS DO THE WORK FOR YOU
This one might be cheating, but one of the easiest ways to have your house plants stand out is to have a house plant that stands out! Starfish Snake Plants and Calathea Rattlesnakes aren’t your typical house plants and will make anyone stop in their tracks to ask “is that real?”
